Unfolding layers, unfolding grids and unfolding GOCAD objects

Abstract

We presented during the last GOCAD meetings methods to unfold layers with GOCAD. Unfolding is mainly used to validate models of sub-surface. In this article we will show the two unfolding methods and block fitting technique used in GOCAD that correspond to the main types of geological deformation mechanisms.We will after that present a new function in GOCAD, computing stratigraphie grids for each step of the unfolding work. This will allow to show deformation of properties during unfolding. Finally you will see how to foldlunfold any GOCAD objects by using the preceding grids.
