Guillaume Caumon

About...
Guillaume Caumon is currently Full Professor in Numerical Geology at Nancy School of Geology and GeoRessources at Université de Lorraine.
Hi research concerns the development of numerical methodologies to integrate geological and physical observations in a common theoretical and numerical framework. This involves various research questions in the area of uncertainty quantification, geomodeling and geological knowledge representation, meshing, geostatistics, visualization, and Bayesian inference. He teaches theoretical and applied geomodeling, geostatistics, field work and C++ programming.
He is the director of the RING Consortium (since 2007) and he holds a senior innovation chair at Institut Universitaire de France (2023-2028).
Previously, he was a postdoctoral scholar in at the Petroleum Engineering Dept. of Stanford University (2003-2004). He was visiting professor at the Center for Wave Phenomena at Colorado School of Mines during spring and summer 2015. He obtained a MSc degree (Diplome d'ingénieur and DEA) from the Nancy School of Geology (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie) and a PhD from INPL, addressing aspects on representational validity, updating and visualization of geomodels. His Habilitation in Geosciences, also from INPL, addresses the problem of uncertainty quantification and temporal reasoning in geomodeling (see this position paper for an English version).
Prospective students and postdocs: MSc admission pathways, Open PhD scholarships and postdoctoral opportunities and listed and explained on this page. I receive many messages, and may not be able to reply to all requests.
