Abstract

The good quality of seismic data is the main source of exploration for energy resources like oil and gas. Even with seismic advanced techniques for acquisition and processing, such as static corrections and noise attenuation, it is essential that the seismic interpretation professionals well trained. The oil industry seismic interpretation area requires qualified professionals. But this professional type is scarce. Therefore, it is a clear need to train new in seismic interpretation specialists. In this way, we developed a Gocad platform plugin. It is capable of transforming a 3D geological model, based on surface data (outcrops and/or core) in a 3D synthetic seismic cube. This plugin will allow the synthetic seismic model to be used as training in the analogy of outcrop data with subsurface data. The plugin has a simple interface, based on the Gocad common activities workflow pattern. The input parameters requested at each stage, like, sample rate, selection, and configuration of wavelets, geophones noise rates, the number of traces, seismic lines, and the number of pulses for each trait simulate the original seismic acquisition process. After the seismic creation workflow, the synthetic seismic cube is automatically loaded into the Gocad project. Finally, we present the Gocad InvertSeis plugin exclusively dedicated to training new seismic interpretation professionals.
