Abstract
In the geologieal field, triangulated surfaces are usually a more flexible way of representing
horizons and faults than eurvilinear grids. However, for many purposes it may often
be interesting to be able to transform a triangulated surface into a curvilinear gridded surface.
Building a 3D stratigraphie grids is a good example of it. This technique requires that
a curvilinear grid is mapped onto previously eonstructed triangulated surfaces (stratigraphie
horizons) whieh cons train the building of the stratigraphie layers. This paper presents an
original method to map a eurvilinear grid onto any triangulated surface assuming we ean
determine four main borders to the surface in question.
