Abstract
In this paper , we present new methods that allow to construct a global parameterization
of a triangulated surface. A global parameterization, or a mapping of a surface is
defined as a Qne-t o-one t ransform that maps the considered surface to the unit square
[0, 1] x [0, 1] of R' . Such m.pping functions may be applied to a large spectrum
of problems, comprising properties modelling, mesh beautifying and curvilinear grids
generation . This paper is organized in two parts. The first part presents t he mathematical
theory, while the second part fae tises on several applications of t he met hod .
