Abstract

Multiphase fluid flow behaviour in heterogeneous rocks has been shown to be complex and not accurately captured by core plug-scale laboratory trials. Numerical experiments can be performed on detailed, intermediate-scale models to simulate fluid flow and derive effective properties such as permeability to improve reservoir-scale simulations.
