Abstract

A geological 3D model of Saxony/ Germany is currently established at the Saxon State Agency for Environment, Agriculture and Geology. Border-crossing structures represent a special case, as they pose certain requirements and difficulties with regard to geological expertise, responsibility and data accessibility. The Altenberg-Teplice Caldera provides such a special case, as it is partly situated in the Czech Republic and partly in Saxony. Therefore a cooperation between the Czech Geological Survey and the Saxon State Agency for Environment, Agriculture and Geology has been established in order to create a cross-border model of the entire structure. As input for the model maps, borehole data, cross sections and seismic profiles were used. Fitting accuracy was guaranteed by transformation from national coordinate systems to UTM. Furthermore the project partners work with different modeling software. This requires a data transfer from Surfer to Gocad, since the final model is generated with Gocad.
