Rapid Model Updating: Two essential tools

Abstract

In geomodeling, we need more and more tools for updating a 3D model. In order to build a velocity model, a user must be able to merge two regions or amplify a throw by translating a horizon. But those two operations which look very simple in theory, need two essential tools which were missing up to now. In this report, we present the necessity of developing those two essential tools for the model updating. The first one called "the uncut" was presented at the last gocad meeting [1]. This first tool allows a user to remove the remaining scars coming from a cut operation. We will just make here a recall on the main principle and present the improvements. After that, we will present the main concept of the second tool called "PerfectContactBorder". When a surface is edited (translation for example), we need to regenerate a perfect contact of this surface with all the others in order to have no leaks. This second tool is just a concept and is part of the future work. Those two tools will allow in the future : - to modify in an interactive way a 3D mode!. - to realize multiple geostatistical simulations on a single 3D model.
