3D Unfolding

in: 12th gOcad Meeting, ASGA

Abstract

At nearly each GOCAD Meeting we present you the theory and improvement of the 3D Balanced Unfolding we are implementing in GOCAD. This time once more we will do so but only in a short first part. We would like this time to emphasize a simplistic way to perform unfolding, it is based on the use of properties and property scripts.1t results in vertical simple shearing on layer cake mode!. Though it is a simplistic method limited to specific models (layer cake) it is often adapted to reservoir modeling process, where the objective is to have an idea of the geometry of the reservoir when f1attened according to a given time surface, or to f1atten th model to perform the object of petrophysical parameters modelling phase.
