Preserving length in the 3D Balanced Unfolding (a way to preserve area)

in: 8th gOcad Meeting, ASGA

Abstract

While unfolding in 2D, the length of the cmve (limit of an horizon) should often be preserved, in 3D the equivalent constraint is to preserve the area of the surface. In the paper 3D Balanced Unfolding: isometric transformations (GOCAD Meeting June 93) we presented the equations for such a constraint. This constraint has been implemented in GOCAD, in the present paper we will introduce you the results, we will analyze them and propose methods to improve the constraint.
