Complementary approaches for the optimisation of well design

Abstract
This article encapsulates the main final achievements of this research on the optimisation of well paths. First of all, a new well object has been designed to incorporate knowledge from the different parties: geologists, geophysicians and drilling engineers. Though it has been first thought to be used for the optimisation of the path on a probability cube, this approach has been put aside. Instead, two complementary approaches are proposed to deal with the uncertainty: the virtual trajectory and an algorithm to improve the seismic facies analysis. They target the two important aspects of well planning.
