Abstract
An approach for tracÎng l'ays by a wavefront method is presented. Aftel' each propagation step the wavefront is checked if the rays are diverging. If a certain limit is exceeded, new rays are introduced, to keep the density of the ray field constant. By using a shooting algorithm, this method allows to coyer regions of interest in 3D geophysical models with enough rays to interpolate values on receiver arrays.
