Abstract

Deep geothermal energy is a real economic challenge, this energy is little exploited in comparison to the available resources. We investigate heat flow in the deep geothermal exchanger of Soultz- sous-Forˆ ets. This paper aims at measuring the impact of geological structures on heat and fluid flow during reservoir exploitation.Starting from the large database available at Soultz-Sous-Forˆ ets, we propose a model to represent rock heterogeneities and we simulate heat flow in the reservoir. We used both Eclipse and Hydrotherm software and we demonstrate their complementarity. The model petrophysical parameters have been calibrated by a history matching process with Eclipse. We show that the way of modeling fractures has a direct impact on the production temperature. The Hydrotherm simulation shows that an equilibrium can be reached by authorizing fluid losses at the boundaries. Starting from that, the Eclipse model should be revised by adding dummy wells to recreate the boundary conditions of Hydrotherm.
